Engineering Manager

Content Supply & Distribution sources and delivers amazing  content to multiple platforms not just in the UK but all around the world.

Software engineering is at the core of the supply chain and our cross functional engineering teams, distributed across London and Leeds, work on a variety of products ensuring ITV receives and delivers assets on-time to where they need to be, in the format they need to be.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our Engineering teams in Content Supply & Distribution. The purpose of the Engineering Manager is to nurture and grow the content supply software engineering function by developing its teams, its people and the processes that empower them.

What the role entails…

Working across the product teams the engineering managers main focus is on the engineers as people, with the main jobs being

  • Help them grow. We want you to change the trajectory of your engineers’ careers.
  • Advocate for them. Look for opportunities for them within the organization and beyond.
  • Assist with fostering alignment and shared understanding across the content supply domain and wider.

The ideal candidate will be a smart, kind, and empathic person. An experienced software engineer at heart that has intentionally transitioned to people management and will exhibit several of the following attributes:

  • A love of people management, great products and solving operation problems
  • A strong desire to foster a working environment that’s enriching, inclusive, and safe, where people of all backgrounds and identities feel welcome
  • Experienced people manager, including providing formal and informal feedback
  • Technical credibility gained from a background in software development
  • A strong believer in servant leadership, there first and foremost to bring the best out of other people
  • Experienced interviewer able to run technical and soft skills assessments, helping to build a diverse team of Engineers

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:

  1. Worked as software engineer at senior level, with good understanding of software development life cycle
  2. Previous experience of managing software engineers including hiring, onboarding, and professional development
  3. A desire to develop and bring out the best in other people

The Key role criteria is as follows:

  1. Excel at communication, and can explain complex technical issues accurately to technical and non-technical audiences
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  3. Desire to promote our engineering capability both inside and outside the business
  4. Experience with agile software development, such as SCRUM or Kanban
