ITV’s presence has grown recently in the areas of Video On Demand and Streaming services which are now delivered across various platforms for ITV Hub. In addition services are also supplied to a number of partner TV broadcasters such as SKY, Virgin and Amazon.

Content Supply & Distribution sources and delivers amazing  content to multiple platforms not just in the UK but all around the world.

The Content Processing team supports the business providing an in-house team of Application and Operational support specialists with exposure and experience of Agile and ITIL methodologies and processes.

Due to this, we are looking for a Digital workflow & support engineer to join the team. These services need to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and as such the Digital Media & Workflow Engineer will be an integral part of the Digital Media & Workflow systems support within the Content Processing Team and wider Content Supply and Distribution area

The key areas this role will focus on include: 

  • Ensuring all new workflows and major changes and releases are transitioned into operations in accordance with documentation and handover procedures. 
  • Manage Operational relationships with key workflow & digital media application vendors. -
  • Act as a point of escalation for Media and workflow Operational issues. 
  • Knowledge and skills transfer to cross team technical staff to improve team skills, knowledge and support capacity.
  • Providing On-Call Support as part of a 24x7 Rota

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:

  • Extensive experience of supporting and maintaining multimedia and video delivery workflows (on prem and cloud based) 
  • Extensive experience with Application/Operational Support (on prem and cloud based)
  • An understanding of Live Streaming & Video On Demand (VOD) Content encoding and delivery principles on multiple platforms
  • Experience of monitoring tools and techniques.


The following skills are desirable, although there will be plenty of opportunities to learn these on the job:

  • Experience of operationally managing enterprise encoding/transcoding solutions such as AWS MediaConvert/MediaConnect/MediaLive, Telestream, Ateme et.. 
  • Experience of managing enterprise storage solutions eg Isilon 
  • Experience of managing enterprise monitoring solutions such as AWS CloudWatch, Dataminer, Grafana. 
  • Service operations experience within the OnDemand/Media industry. 
  • Understanding of how Content Delivery Networks (CDN’s) function in an OnDemand environment. (Akamai, Limelight) 
  • Experience of On-Call Support in and out of hours. 
  • Coding experience using Python and/or markup language such as json
